Kjell Øystein Arisland – serious fun
This page is about some of the stuff that interests me that I am not trying to make a living off. I am not really sure why I have written this page, and it may quite possibly be of interest only to me. There is not a whole lot here, but I may get around to writing more some day.
- Books
My favorite authors are Arthur Conan Doyle, Carl Barks, John Grisham, Henrik Ibsen, Astrid Lindgren, Roald Dahl, Don Rosa, Pelham Grenville Wodehouse, Andre Bjerke, Jules Verne, Herbert George Wells, George Orwell, George Wilson, Douglas Adams, James Patterson, etc etc.
I like reading, and when I read fiction, I do it for rest and relaxation. If you want to judge me by my choice of literature, I am not an «intellectual». I love a good crime story, some science fiction, comics and imaginative childrens books. I also appreciate linguistic acrobats and authors who can play with, use and wield language as a toy, a tool and a weapon, preferably all at the same time. I appreciate authors who demonstrate keen insight and understanding of psychology, philosophy and the human mind in general, but I prefer them when they don't make it spoil the plot and the fun.
- Movies
My taste in movies closely parallels my taste in literature. Example actors, directors and movies are Clint Eastwood, Stephen Spielberg, Robert de Niro, Jack Nicholson, Jimmy Stewart, Alfred Hitchcock, George Lucas, Bruce Willis, Back to the future I, II and III, Saving private Ryan, The usual suspects, Leon, Little big man, The silence of the lambs, Mr. Smith goes to Washington, Dirty Harry, Life of Brian, Die Hard, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, Groundhog day, Twelve monkeys and many, many more.
- Tools
I know this isn't very original, but I love tools, and Clas Ohlson is my favorite store, second only to Canadian Tire, which I am too far away from most of the time.
I also like sea fishing, sailboats, knots, rocks, trees, chocolate, building things, a little daydreaming, and reading about many kinds of new technology.
